On Saturday, October 25, 2025, Alchemy of Souls returned to the winner’s enclosure for the second time in his career, securing victory in a three-year-old non-winners of two event over 7 ½ furlongs. This marked his 14th career start.
Bred by Spieth out of Emerald Belle, Alchemy of Souls is trained by Jason DaCosta and was ridden on this occasion by Phillip Parchment, who replaced Reyan Lewis. The change in jockey proved effective, as Parchment delivered a measured and tactical ride to guide the colt to success.
When the gates opened, Alchemy of Souls was slow into stride, settling near the rear of the field. At the front, Big LA, No Apology, and I’m Outstanding contested the early lead, with Big LA eventually gaining a slight advantage. That lead was short-lived, however, as Khaleesi, partnered by leading rider Raddesh Roman, made a decisive move between the three- and two-furlong markers. Khaleesi surged ahead and entered the home stretch with a clear lead.
Meanwhile, Parchment kept Alchemy of Souls along the inside rails, gradually improving position. By the time the field reached the top of the lane, Alchemy of Souls had moved into contention but still had several lengths to make up. Responding to Parchment’s urging, the colt began to close the gap on Khaleesi, whose momentum began to slow in the final furlong.
In the final stages, Alchemy of Souls continued to gain ground and eventually passed Khaleesi in the last strides to win by half-a-length. The final time for the 7 ½ furlong trip was 1:35.3. The race was run with sectional splits of 23.4 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.3 for the half-mile, 1:14.3 for six furlongs, and 1:28.2 at the mile marker. Midnight Runner finished third.
For trainer Jason DaCosta, this was the first of three wins on the day. His other winners were Fidelity and Mr Senator. For Phillip Parchment, the ride on Alchemy of Souls was a successful opportunity to demonstrate his skill and composure in replacing a top-tier jockey. Alchemy of Souls now boasts career earnings exceeding $3 million.
