This second contest on Saturday, September 20, 2025, is set for locally bred three and four-year-olds who have not yet won four races, and foreign bred three and four-year-olds who have not yet won three.
The distance is a testing 7½ furlongs, demanding both speed and stamina. Originally six horses were entered, but number four, J Spieth, has been withdrawn as a late non-starter, leaving five contenders to battle it out.
Below is The Quick Galloper’s detailed analysis of the remaining runners, presented in post-position order.
1 – ENTHUSIASM: A three-year-old bay filly foaled on March 12, sired by Wow Wow out of Noon It Is. Trained by Anthony Nunes and partnered by jockey Dick Cardenas. Enthusiasm broke through for her second career win on August 23, sprinting 6½ furlongs with authority. However, her next outing in the 9½-furlong Winston Griffiths left much to be desired, as she failed to fire. That performance may be best forgotten, as she returns to a more suitable distance. With her proven ability over shorter trips, Enthusiasm could bounce back with a much-improved showing.
2 – ROCKET FIRE SEB: A three-year-old bay colt bred in the USA (April 6), by Will Take Charge out of Esky. Trained by Spencer Chung and ridden by Raddesh Roman. Rocket Fire Seb enters this race riding a wave of momentum, having won two of his three career starts. His progression has been impressive—starting at five furlongs, then six, and most recently scoring over seven furlongs. This foreign-bred colt is developing rapidly and appears to relish each new challenge. Despite the weight he must shoulder, his form and work ethic make him the standout choice. Expect a bold run from this rising star.
3 – PERFECT AFFAIR: A chestnut filly born on April 18, by Perfect Curlin out of Nuclear Affair. Trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Tyrese Anderson. Perfect Affair secured her second win on September 7 in a sharp five-furlong straight dash. She’s shown steady improvement and has a solid foundation. However, this marks her first attempt at the non-three level, which introduces a new layer of competition. The distance and class rise may pose a challenge.
4 – J SPEITH: This runner has been declared a late non-starter and will not participate in the race.
5 – H TWO O: A chestnut colt bred in the USA (May 11), by Diving Road out of Trendy Wendy. Trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by veteran Shane Ellis. H Two O has been a popular pick among punters in his five career starts, yet has only managed to secure a single win. While expectations have been high, his performances have not consistently matched the hype. He may be best considered for an exacta spot rather than the win. A clean trip and tactical ride could see him sneak into contention.
6 – GLOBAL PURSUIT: A chestnut colt foaled on April 6, by Bold Conquest out of American Invader. Trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by Jerome Innis. Global Pursuit returned from a lengthy layoff on May 23 with a sharp win over four furlongs. He followed that up with another victory in his first non-two attempt, sprinting five furlongs straight. Now stepping up to the non-winners of three level and stretching out to 7½ furlongs, this colt faces a significant test. While his early speed is evident, the added distance and class may prove too much at this stage. A learning experience awaits.
