KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Shane Ellis waited and waited and then brought the Michael Marlowe trained Leekout with a telling run in the final furlong of seven to win the seventh race just moments ago at Caymanas Park.
The race was an Optional Claimer ($650,000 - $600,000) for five-year-olds and upwards non-winners of four races.
As expected speedball Dee Danger (Shamaree Muir 7-5) went into the lead followed closely by Madam Secretary (Raddesh Roman 1-1).
After three furlongs were completed Dee Danger was the sole leader with Leekout way behind at the back of the field.
In the straight it was still Dee Danger holding on but could not withstand the late burst of Ellis on Leekout.
Splendid Vision (Oshane Nugent 15-1) was second with Dee Danger finishing third.
The winning time for seven furlongs was 1:28.1.
