The eighth race on Saturday’s card honours Poorlittlerichgirl, a standout filly and Derby winner.
The event is set for 7½ furlongs and features a competitive field of nine horses at the Open Allowance level.
Below is a horse-by-horse analysis in post-position order.
1 – BLUE VINYL - Won his last race in the class below by 11 lengths. Proven over the distance and capable of competing with top-tier opponents when in peak condition. Faces strong foreign competition but remains a credible local contender.
2 – WALL STREET TRADER - Won on July 12 carrying 103 lb. Now assigned 126 lb, with an apprentice allowance reducing that by approximately 8 lb. The weight increase and longer distance present significant challenges against stronger rivals.
3 – RHYTHM BUZZ - Returns after a 56-day break. Beat Blue Vinyl by 6 lengths over a mile on June 14. Prefers a fast pace and relies on a strong closing run. A serious threat if race conditions suit.
4 – UNSPUN - Former champion two-year-old with one win in six recent starts this season. Has been consistent in Overnight Allowance but lacks the form right now to effectively challenge this field. Races without visor.
5 – KEM - Has progressed steadily but is now up against more seasoned competition. Will likely need additional development before contending at this level. A credit to his connections for reaching this far.
6 – RIDEALLDAY - American-bred colt with three consecutive wins, including a debut victory in Overnight Allowance. Faces his toughest test yet but has shown ability and consistency in training. A key contender.
7 – FEARLESS SOUL - Typically runs from off the pace and will benefit from a fast early tempo. However, the quality of the field may limit his chances. A minor placing is most realistic.
8 – RUN JULIE RUN - Locally bred mare recently defeated by top imports Funcaandun and Desert of Malibu. Versatile in running style and likely to be competitive in the final stages.
9 – SHEER DELIGHT - Unlikely to factor in the outcome beyond a possible minor placing.
