Three Jamaican jockeys, Shavon Townsend, Neville Stephenson, and Matthew Bennett earned wins on the eight-race card yesterday (July 29) at the Assiniboia Downs racetrack in Canada.
Townsend was the first to enter the winners’ enclosure on the Dewey Williams trained Gor Fer. The post-race report as follows: “GO FER had inside speed under pressure, opened up stretch, drifted out while drawing out.”
Stephenson scored in the five aboard Silvercreek Kid trained by Mike Taphorn. The post-race report reads as follows: “SILVERCREEK KID forced pace outside, dueled turn, short led into stretch, shook inside rival mid-stretch, held on.”
Bennett completed the Jamaican triple in the eighth on Meko Makee conditioned by Timothy Husbands. The post-race report reads as follows: “MEKO MAKEE opened up early, never seriously pressured, held well.”
