Kem, a five-year-old chestnut gelding by Here Comes Ben out of Lost Springs, delivered a strong performance at Caymanas Park on Saturday, July 5, 2025, winning the Midnight Angel Trophy in the Overnight Allowance grade.
Competing over 6½ furlongs, apprentice rider Demar Williams quickly took command and maintained a steady pace throughout the race. Guided by trainer Paul Swaby, Kem broke well from the starting gate and set a commanding tempo early on.
He led past California Gold, D Head Cornerstone, and Perfect Brew, while the favourite, Major Danger, kept close at the half-mile mark. Kem responded to the challenge with a strong surge, pulling away in the final stretch as the crowd reacted.
Kem finished in a time of 1:21.4, winning by 4¾ lengths in a display of control and determination.
D Head Cornerstone and Perfect Brew finished second and third, respectively, trailing behind. With six wins from 26 starts, Kem confirmed his return to form, demonstrating that he is entering a more competitive phase of his career.
