KINGSTON, Jamaica – It took a brilliant and swashbuckling ride from jockey Dane Nelson to get the win on first time foreign starter Race Car in the second of nine races on the Sunday card at Caymanas Park just moments ago.

Starting as the 1-9 odds on favourite in a Restricted Allowance II event for native bred three-year-olds - non-winners of two and maiden foreigners competing around the 5 ½ furlong course, Race Car was the last of the seven runners to leave the starting gates. So too was another first time importee Whoshotthesheriff with Omar Walker in the saddle.

With Nelson scrubbing hard from the get go, Race Car had to make up ground on the leaders Eagle One (Phillip Parchment – 11-1) and Another Prosecutor (Raddesh Roman – 51-1).

Entering the straight still way behind the leaders, Nelson pushed and pushed first on the inside rails then he got room between horses with a furlong to go and Race Car, a three-year-old grey colt by Race Day – McDuffie responded boldly while still having to hold off the challenge of Whoshotthesherrif who inexplicably went wide.

Whoshotthesheriff was second with Eagle One third.

The one, two, three finishers were all foreigners.

The winning time was 1:06.0 with splits of 22.4 x 46.0.
