KINGSTON, Jamaica – The nine race Sunday card (January 26) at Caymanas Park got off to a favourable start as Awesome Cat duly obliged as the 1-5 odds on choice.
It was never really a contest as Awesome Cat drawn on the outside of the 12 runners with emerging apprentice Anthony Allen in the irons had nothing to do but to keep a straight course.
That Allen was able to accomplish without any fuss in the $180,000 - $150,000 claiming opener travelling four furlongs.
The win was Allen’s seventh this year and the first in a long while for trainer Keisha Lawrence.
Second went to Lady V (Ruja Lahoe – 7-2), with third the place occupied by Aquilo (Milton Powell – 39-1).
The winning time was 48.1 seconds.
