Eleven horses faced the starter in the 2024 edition of the 1000 Guineas, with the Ian Parsard-trained Run Julie Run delivering a commanding victory.

Looking ahead, the 2025 edition of this prestigious one-mile Classic for three-year-old fillies is set for Saturday, June 7, 2025.

As part of the ongoing coverage leading up to the season’s first Classic, Quickgallopja.com revisits the 2024 race to assess the progress—or lack thereof—of its eleven participants.

This review follows the finishing order of the race.

FIRST: RUN JULIE RUN - After her 1000 Guineas triumph, this filly narrowly missed winning the 12-furlong Jamaica Derby. She easily advanced through her conditions, reaching Overnight Allowance before stepping up to Open Allowance, where she has secured two victories—the latest on April 27. Run Julie Run has proven to be the standout of her crop, amassing seven wins, five second-place finishes, and five thirds from 18 starts. A real credit to her connections.

SECOND: COMEHOMETOME – Since the 1000 Guineas, progress has been elusive for Comehometome, seemingly hindered by health setbacks. However, recent regular morning workouts indicate a potential return to competitive racing.

THIRD: BATTLE ANGEL – With three career wins and earnings approaching $3 million, Battle Angel is on the verge of claiming a fourth victory, which would push her into Overnight Allowance. However, making a significant impact at the latter level remains uncertain.

FOURTH: BANADURA – After the 1000 Guineas, Banadura earned a Classic win in the 10-furlong Jamaica Oaks for fillies. However, as a four-year-old, she has primarily competed at the Overnight Allowance level with underwhelming results. She has since transitioned to the stud farm and was bred to Bern Identity.

FIFTH: AMMA – Despite a promising start to her career, Amma did not progress as anticipated and has now moved to the breeding shed.

SIXTH: SHANTY STAR – Reports suggest that Shanty Star has moved on to a new and greener pasture.

SEVENTH: BLU SENSATION – Blu Sensation continues to actively campaign through her conditions. She last secured a victory on April 5, 2025, marking her third career win from 23 starts, with total earnings exceeding $3.5 million.

EIGHTH: BUTTERCUP – Still active in competition but has struggled to secure a breakthrough. Buttercup has yet to surpass non-winners of two races.

NINTH: CRYPTOGIRL – Actively racing in 2025, Cryptogirl has made seven starts so far without a win. Overall, she has raced 18 times, claiming two victories.

TENTH: FASTNFURIOUSLINKS – Retired and now dedicated to breeding.

ELEVENTH: MIDNIGHT FLIGHT – After a lengthy break, Midnight Flight returned on May 17, 2025, securing a decisive victory in non-winners of four. Her career earnings now approach $3 million. Competing next at the Overnight level, she appears poised to secure at least one win in this category.
