KINGSTON, Jamaica - Perfect Affair is making her mark in the competitive field of three-year-old fillies aiming for Classic race success later this year.

This chestnut filly, sired by Perfect Curlin and out of former Classic winner Nuclear Affair, debuted on February 23, racing 6 ½ furlongs with Reyan Lewis in the saddle. Despite being well-backed, she finished third, 13 lengths behind winner Prince Roy, with Cosalivin taking second.

On Saturday, March 22, Perfect Affair returned to the track to compete in a six-furlong race exclusively for three-year-old fillies, once again with Lewis riding.

This time, her potential shone through. Positioned behind another second time starter Starraura (Robert Halledeen) and Cosalivin (Tevin Foster), the Anthony Nunes-trained filly made her move at the top of the straight.

She accelerated impressively to take the lead at the furlong pole, winning by 2 ¾ lengths. Cosalivin secured second place while Starraura finished third. The winning time was 1:15.3.

“This was a much-improved performance from Perfect Affair,” Nunes said in his post-race interview. “I was especially pleased with her patience, waiting for the right moment to strike. She turned the tables on Cosalivin, who had previously defeated her in her debut, which bodes well for her future races.”

Looking ahead, Trainer Nunes stated, “With the major preparation races for the Classics approaching, our focus now is to ensure Perfect Affair is ready for these upcoming events.” As for her next race, he confirmed, “If her preparation goes smoothly, Perfect Affair will compete in the seven-furlong Thornbird Stakes in mid-April.”
