KINGSTON, Jamaica - The ninth race of nine on Saturday, February 8, 2025, features Division Two of the Allan E “Billy” Williams Trophy, a non-restricted Overnight Allowance contest for horses aged three years and older, covering a distance of 7 furlongs.
Eleven competitors are scheduled to face the starter in what promises to be an open contest.
The Quick Galloper's analysis of the potential outcomes for this event is provided below for the consideration of readers on this website.
1 - KWAKU: Simply put, Kwaku is significantly out of his depth.
2 - SONNY T AND CHIPPY: Coming off a win in a claiming race, Sonny T And Chippy returns to face rivals he has struggled against in the past.
3 - DIVINE FORCE (USA): While he has not been performing at his best in recent outings, Divine Force has previously demonstrated his capability at this level. With less formidable opponents now, there’s a strong possibility he could become a deciding factor. Note that Divine Force will race with first time, Lasix.
4 - POSITIVE ID: He has completely lost form and can be disregarded from consideration.
5 - NEO STAR: He performed well to finish second behind Commandant over 9 furlongs and 25 yards on January 1. Neo Star has been training well since that date, but the distance could be a limitation, as his better performances have been at longer distances.
6 - MAMMA MIA: After a 168-day layoff and stepping down in class, Mamma Mia returns. Her last performance on August 24, 2024, was disappointing, finishing fifth, 29 lengths behind the winner. Despite looking promising in morning workouts, she may require time to adjust before being considered a contender for victory.
7 - MONEY MISER: Last seen on December 7, 2024, when he finished sixth in the Chairman’s Trophy. Money Miser has shown his credentials in the past, but his best chance here may be to secure a place on the board.
8 - CHOCOMO (USA): Having already achieved success at this level, Chocomo has been absent from competitive racing for 154 days. While he possesses the ability to succeed, such a long break suggests it may be prudent to wait for another opportunity to achieve his fifth win.
9 - A GIFT FROM BEN: He does not possess the ability to compete at this level.
10 - WHIZZ KIDD: Lacking a realistic chance to win, his prospects are very slim.
11 - COOKIE DAY N NIGHT: Unlikely to make a significant impact in this race.
