KINGSTON, Jamaica – The first race of 11 races on today’s programme at Caymanas Park gave punters a good start to the day when the 4-5 odds on favourite Struck by Grace duly obliged.
Struck by Grace ridden by champion jockey elect Christopher Mamdeen and trained by Neville Peralto was kept off the early pace set by Evasive Action (Trevor Simpson – 7-1) and Son of Spartacus (Marshall Porter – 4-1).
In the straight of the 5 ½ furlong contest for non-winners of two - five-year-olds - Mamdeen got Struck by Grace going and the mare pulled away for the win.
Second was Evasive Action with Sweetie Girl (Jerome Innis – 4-1) in the third slot.
