KINGSTON, Jamaica - Trainer Ian Parsard's filly, Run Julie Run (Successful Native – Runaway Julie), solidified her position as the leading three-year-old filly in training with a sizzling performance in the $3 million Chairman’s Plate on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Ridden by Reyan Lewis, Run Julie Run dominated her opponents, finishing a commanding 5 ½ lengths ahead in the Overnight Allowance race, setting a new stakes record with a time of 1:54.2 for 9 furlongs and 25 yards (1,820 m).
Right from the start, Run Julie Run surged to the front and never relinquished her lead. She maintained a steady pace down the backstretch, increased the tempo as needed, and sprinted to victory without facing any significant challenge. She crossed the line ahead of She’s A Godgift (Javaniel Patterson) and Impressive Force (Raddesh Roman).
After the race, an elated Parsard expressed his pride in the filly's capabilities and resilience.
"She is just fantastic," he said.
"I was really concerned about today's race because she had a lot of running to do the entire season, and she has had three hard races since October. I was worried that she might be feeling the effects of a long campaign,” he admitted.
Despite these apprehensions, Parsard's filly showcased her top form, taking an early lead and maintaining it comfortably.
"To be honest, there wasn't any pressure in this race," Parsard noted. "She was able to get the lead and was very comfortable. I mean, nobody was within a length of her, and so any splits going 50.0 for the first half mile, to me, at that point, it was a matter of how far she would win,” he elaborated.
Parsard revealed that participating in the Chairman’s Plate was a last-minute decision, as they had initially not planned for this race.
“This race was not on our calendar, but she turned up and ran a stakes record, and it showed how much of a talent she is,” he remarked.
Following her impressive victory, Run Julie Run will enjoy a well-deserved rest, with Parsard confirming that she will take a break before returning to the track next year. Looking to the future, he believes that Run Julie Run will continue to be a formidable competitor in the seasons ahead.
