KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Ahwhofah Sprint is the feature even on the nine-race card of Saturday, December 14, 2024, in which 14 horses will compete.
The Ahwhofah is for Overnight Allowance horses travelling six furlongs.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the 14 is published below.
1 - COMMANDER Z - Making his Overnight debut, needs time to adjust, and the one draw may hinder his chances in this quick sprint.
2 - FREEDOM STREET - A regular contender in Overnight Allowance races. Finished second by a length to Money Market over 5 ½ furlongs on November 23. However, Freedom Street can be inconsistent and has only a slim chance.
3 - DIGITAL ONE - Has struggled to regain her juvenile form at three. Capable of performing well here; with a visor on, she could finish strong after a close start.
4 - COOKIE DAY N NIGHT - Faces a challenging race and realistically has little chance. Note that the tongue-tie will be off for this run.
5 - BOOTYLICIOUS - Led early but finished behind Power From Above and Sistren Treasure in the St Elizabeth Distaff over one mile on November 9. This shorter distance should suit her, and she is poised for her seventh win from 14 starts.
6 - TAURUS BOY - Prefers the straight course and is unlikely to make an impact in this race.
7 - BIG BIG DADDY - Expected to have difficulty keeping pace.
8 - GET A PEPSI - Has recently under performed but possesses enough quality to potentially disrupt the standings.
9 - JOY IS GOLDEN - Faces a tough challenge, even with the tongue-tie added for this engagement.
10 - JORDON REIGN’S - Returns after a 154-day break, but if fit, this should not adversely affect his performance.
11 - FOUR FIVER - After progressing through her conditions, she now faces a different level of competition, making victory unlikely. Reaching this stage is an achievement, but the competition is stiff.
12 - BERN NOTICE - Will struggle against stronger opposition and is unlikely to contend with the leaders.
13 - KP CHOICE - Faces an uphill battle as his best efforts are typically seen on the straight course.
14 - DIVINE FORCE - Coming back from a 210-day layoff and will need the race to find his rhythm.
