Widely regarded as one of the finest riders ever produced in Jamaica, McKenzie leaves behind a legacy of exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to the sport.
McKenzie's career was marked by three remarkable jockey championships, claiming victory in 1965, 1966, and 1968. His skill and perseverance earned him a well-deserved place in the Racing Hall of Fame.
A true testament to his passion, McKenzie remained connected to the sport he loved until the very end. He made his final visit to the Caymanas Park race track on September 17, 2024, where he presented the prestigious Trevor McKenzie Trophy to winning trainer Gary Subratie, a fitting tribute witnessed by the racing community. Subratie’s Digital One won the Trevor McKenzie Trophy.
