KINGSTON, Jamaica – Caymanas Park witnessed a historic day of racing on Saturday, October 26, 2024, as two track records were shattered within a short span.
The first record was set by the two-year-old debutante, Mighty Gully. The young filly stormed to victory in a 4 ½ furlong race, clocking a time of 53.1 seconds. Mighty Gully trained by Robert Pearson with aboard displayed her natural speed to lead from the off, and when challenged in the final furlong found enough to make it one win from as many starts.
However, the excitement was short-lived. In the very next race, David Lee Sin's five-year-old mare, Four Fiver, eclipsed Mighty Gully's record. The bay mare, who was contesting a Restricted Allowance III, finished the 4 ½ furlong distance in 53.0 seconds.
Despite trailing behind the early pace-setters, Power of Faith, Adenosine, and Traveller’s Lodge, Four Fiver patiently bided her time. As the field entered the final furlong, she unleashed a powerful burst of speed, overtaking her rivals to secure a comfortable 1 ¾ length victory over Adenosine and Special Gift.
