Connections Of Tekapunt Appeal Against Disqualification

ON THE TRAIL

KINGSTON, Jamaica - The connections of Tekapunt have officially appealed against the decision of the race day stewards to disqualify their horse.

On Monday, October 21, 2024, Tekapunt with Samantha Fletcher aboard went by the winning post as the winner of the second race. Subsequently, the race day stewards announced an inquiry into the running of the race.

In quick time, the stewards made their decision to disqualify Tekapunt from first place to third for causing interference and for intimidating horse number two My Sunshine (Omar Walker), who at first had finished in the third slot. Salud ridden by Raddesh Roman was promoted to first place.

The final placings after the disqualification were as follows; first Salud, second My Sunshine, and third Tekapunt.

The decision to disqualify Tekapunt was not greeted well by punters at the racetrack. They began to show their discontent by throwing debris in the tunnel, the winners’ enclosure, and the racetrack.

This led to the abandonment of the rest of the race meet.

Under the rules of racing, the connections of a disqualified horse are given 48 hours after the decision to lodge an appeal.

  1. a day to remember,at caymanas park..now i've seen disqualification's before, the biggest was the jamaica derby a couple years ago, there wee disgruntled punters galore,a way bigger crowd than on heroes day 2024,that disqualification was bitter..but was accepted in a manner way different from that of TEK-A PUNT,if this were MOUTTET MILE DAY,what would have happened? why was this DQ so unique from others..can anyone tell me
