KINGSTON, Jamaica - The ninth event on Saturday, October 12, 2024, is a three-year-old and up for non-winners of three locally bred horses and a non-four for three-year-old bred overseas.
The race will cover a distance of five furlongs round, and eight horses will be facing the starter.
Here are the assessments for the horses in post-position order.
1 - SHE’S THAT GIRL: She is a chestnut filly (born on February 3) by Sensational Slam out of Palace Gold. She is trained by Steven Todd with Dane Dawkins riding. She recently struggled in the 10-furlong Jamaica Oaks on August 3 but is now back to her forte of sprinting at the minimum trip on the round course. Reports suggest she is well-prepared for the race.
2 - WARSAW: He is a chestnut colt (born on May 3) by Sunshine N Shadow out of Full Moon’s Enough, trained by Anthony Nunes with Omar Walker aboard. Warsaw races with the blinkers off and the visor on. He has two wins from three starts, and his only defeat was against She’s That Girl over six furlongs. He is considered a talented colt and is expected to perform well.
3 - TEFLON DON: He is a bay colt (born on May 13) by Casual Trick out of The Lady Scored, trained by Jason DaCosta with Victor Sanchez as the jockey. Teflon Don has shown potential as a speedster and has an outsider’s chance of winning.
4 - SHE’S A GODGIFT: She is a bay filly from the USA (born on March 7) by Wildcat Red out of Ghostly Direction, trained by Leroy Tomlinson with Raddesh Roman as the jockey. She races with the figure eight on. She showed early promise after a successful debut but has failed to deliver. She has been performing well recently and should be respected in the race.
5 - MS CHERRY: She is a bay filly (born on March 13) by Sensational Slam out of Fiftyshadesofray, trained by Richard Azan with Shane Richardson as the jockey. Ms Cherry is moving up in class and may need more time to develop.
6 - EL RAPIDO: He is a roan colt from the USA (born on April 25) by Valiant Minister out of Sunset Silhouette, trained by Nicholas Wehby with Aaron Chatrie as the jockey. El Rapido races with the blinkers off. Most of his starts have been over the straight, and he struggled navigating the bend in his only start.
7 - O SO SMART: She is a chestnut filly (born on May 24) by Soul Warrior out of Patchwork, trained by Steven Todd with Jordan Barrett riding. She is not expected to be competitive in this race.
8 - MOTIVATE ME BABY: She is a chestnut filly from the USA (born on May 12) by Union Jackson out of On Board, trained by Jason DaCosta with Tevin Foster as the jockey. She was a late non-starter due to injury in her last nominated race. She is another speedster and will need to use her speed wisely in the expected congested race.
