Eight Mouttet Mile Slots Taken After Gold Cup

MOUTTET MILE TWO

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Only sixteen horses can start in any one race at Caymanas Park according to the rules of racing.

In the Mouttet Mile, which will be contested on Saturday, December 7, 2024, six of those sixteen slows have been allocated to horses coming from abroad specifically for the event.

That leaves 10 slots for horses, who have been racing locally (foreigners and locals) since January 1, 2024. Of those 10 slots, three are designated for the winners of the Jamaica Derby, the Gold Cup, and the yet-to-be-run Jamaica Cup.

Winner of the Jamaica Derby, Crown Chaser and Funcaandun, who was successful in the Gold Cup, has therefore gained automatic entry to participate in the US$250,000 Mouttet Mile. That leaves seven starting gates to be filled based on stakes earned.

Based on the latest statistics, the top seven contenders are the current leading stakes earner, Is That A Fact with a total of $6,692,150, achieved from ten starts in 2024, four wins, five-second place finishes, and one-third place.

Run Julie Run is next in order with earnings of $6,349,600, followed by Intrestntimesahead ($6,043,500).

In the fourth slot is Atomica, who from her six starts in 2024 (three wins, two seconds, and one third) has brought in $5,487,250.

The next in order are Desert of Malibu, Comehometome, Banadura, KP Choice and California Crown, all with stakes earned of over $3 million.
