KINGSTON, Jamaica - The main race on the nine-race Sunday card of September 29, 2024, is an Overnight Allowance contest at 7 ½ furlongs named in honor of former Derby winner, Typewriter. Below is Quick Galloper’s assessment of the 15 starters.
1 - LABAN: Laban finished fourth by 6 ½ lengths behind Fearless Soul on August 17 over 6 furlongs. Laban is expected to run well here.
2 - JUSTIN BIDEN: Justin Biden has developed into a capable sort. It is unlikely that he will contend in this one.
3 - GILBERT: Gilbert gives his best effort coming down the straight. Unlikely to deliver against these rivals.
4 - CONUNDRUM: Cannot be seriously considered.
5 - ALL FOR LOVE: All For Love raced on August 6 over 7 ½ furlongs, finishing a disappointing 10th-place by 35 lengths. Despite that August 6 run, All For Love is of sufficient quality to have a significant say in the outcome.
6 - MARCH AND SHOOT: March And Shoot finished fourth by 3 ¼ lengths behind Bern Notice going a mile on August 31. With distance not an issue, March and Shoot should hit the board.
7 - BERN NOTICE: Was a recent winner who is unlikely to repeat against more formidable rivals.
8 - TIGRAY EXPRESS: Is completely out of his depth.
9 - SISTREN TREASURE: Finished fourth behind D Head Cornerstone and Rainsville over 9 furlongs and 25 yards on September 8. Sistren Treasure is now getting into her best form and is expected to be among the top contenders.
10 - BABYLIKE: Is unlikely to have an impact in this contest.
11 - MONEY MISER: Returns after a convincing one-mile victory on August 31. This is a clear indication that this former Classic contender is getting accustomed to this grouping with a return to form, plus the distance is perfect.
12 - I REALISE: Returns from a seven-month break. I Realise is going to need a run or two to regain form.
13 - POSITIVE ID: Has no recent form to suggest a winning run is possible.
14 - SONNY T AND CHIPPY: Is a consistent sort who is on the cusp of winning in this grade, however, needs to be at his best to achieve success.
15 - PRESS CONFERENCE: Is a consistent runner who is expected to play a significant role.
