KINGSTON, Jamaica - In the eighth race scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2024, a total of seven starters have been confirmed to compete.

The race is open to non-three for three-year-old and up foreigners, as well as non-four for locally bred horses aged three and four.

The distance for this race is set at seven furlongs.

3.  O SO SMART initially made an impression in the early stages of the Jamaica Oaks but ultimately finished seventh. With a significant 14 lb reduction in handicaps and a return to familiar surroundings, a much improved performance is anticipated from O So Smart.

4.  HUNTSMAN put up an impressive performance just 11 days ago, finishing a close second behind Super Alex over the same seven-furlong distance. As one of the more experienced contenders in this group of improving three-year-olds, Huntsman’s wisdom could prove advantageous.

5.  ALLEGIANCE had a tough outing in the St Leger and skipped the Derby. Now competing in a more favourable environment at a distance that suits his strength of versatility, Allegiance is expected to put up a strong showing, despite a weight increase of six lbs.

6.  PRINCESS AMAHLE appears to be developing into a strong run-on sprinter, although the current seven-furlong distance may be slightly beyond her capabilities at this stage of development. Another race may be necessary for Princess Amahle to reach peak fitness.

7.  BLU SENSATION is another promising three-year-old in this line-up. Although the filly struggled in the 10-furlong Jamaica Oaks on August 3, this will be Blu Sensation’s first race outside of the three-year-old category. Adjusting to a new level of pace may require some time.
