KINGSTON, Jamaica - The second race on Saturday, August 17, 2024, is the Caymanas Park 1959.

This event is three-year-olds, non-winners of two for locally bred horses, and a maiden for three-year-old foreigners.

Six horses are entered to travel a mile (eight furlongs).

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is provided below for readers.

1 - DON’T TELL LOU LOU is a bay filly (May 8) by Savoy Stomp out of Lastochka, trained by Howard Bailey with Omar Walker in the saddle. Note that Don’t Tell Lou Lou race with the tongue tie off. Has raced several times in non-two without showing anything of worth. Can be disregarded even with a noticeable drop in the weights.

2 - BRENDA BOY is a bay colt (April 3) by Savoy Stomp out of Delightful Brenda, trained by Victor Williams with Oneil Mullings aboard. Note that Brenda Boy races with the cheek-pieces on. Was a no show in the St Leger. Brenda Boy is still trying to assimilate the climate of non-winners of two. Still needs time.

3 - KAYLYN MELODY is a bay filly (May 19) by Casual Trick out of Darlin, trained by Robert Pearson with Aaron Chatrie riding. Note that Kaylyn Melody races with the visor off and the blinkers on. Another who is trying to come to grips with this grouping.

4 - BUTTERCUP is a bay filly (February 2) by Conquest Cherimash out of Shahar, trained by Richard Azan with Raddesh Roman holding the reins. Did reasonably well to finish fifth in the Jamaica Oaks on August 3. Buttercup returns to more familiar ground at a distance to her liking. With a large pull in the weights (10 lbs.) and the presence of the in-form Roman, Buttercup is given a chance of atonement.

5 - ROSETTA is a roan filly (April 6) by Bold Conquest out of Khadiliah, trained by Jason DaCosta with visiting Panamanian jockey Victor Sanchez as the designated saddle assistant. Did well to finish second, two lengths behind stablemate Banadura at 10 furlongs. Rosetta will be at home going a mile but will have to get closer to the pace to make winning a possibility.

6 - TITAN TEMPO is a bay colt (USA April 28) by Maximus Mischief out of Star of Johar, trained by Philip Feanny with Tevin Foster board. Note that Titan Tempo races with the blinkers off. Slowly coming to grips with local conditions. Finished 11 lengths behind Goodbye Firefly 11 days ago at seven furlongs. Titan Tempo will have to wait.
