KINGSTON, Jamaica - The $1.15-million Nigel B Nunes Memorial Cup takes centre as midweek racing returns to Caymanas Park tomorrow with 11 races.
The event for three-year-olds and upwards has attracted a small but talented field of eight runners headed by Toona Ciliata.
An analysis of the race to be run over nine furlongs and 25 yards is provided below.
HOUDINI’S MAGIC: (7-y-o dkb h Performing Magic – Milestone) – Not the horse he once was and has no chance.
ANASO: (4-y-o b g – Distorted – Slim Ting) – Out of his depth.
SUMMER SUN: (3-y-o ch c – USA - Afleet Alex – A Love Theme) – Finished down the track in the Diamond Mile and facing Toona Ciliata again, Summer Sun’s only hope is a place on the board.
FAYROUZ: (4-y-o ch f – Blue Pepsi Lodge – Princess Geeta) – Fayrouz has been struggling and cannot win this one.
JAMAI RAJA: (6-y-o ch g – Market Rally – Angela’s Favourite) – Going to do most of his running early in his races and will do so again then will fade.
TOONA CILIATA: (3-y-o ch g – Soul Warrior – Red Gold) – Has raced 11 times this year, holding four victories, four second places and one third. Toona Ciliata has established himself as the best local-bred three-year-old this season even with Supreme Soul winning the Triple Crown. After finishing second in the Superstakes, Toona Ciliata then placed third in the Diamond Mile, which is enough proof to be vested with the title of the third-best horse in training at present. With the handicaps in his favour, Toona Ciliata is the closest thing to a racing certainty.
DONTAE: (5-y-o b h – Fearless Vision – Eighteen Karat) – Dontae is going to find his stable companion Toona Ciliata too hot to handle.
HOVER CRAFT: (9-y-o b g – He’stherealthing – Royal Pizzaz) – Has no chance.
