KINGSTON, Jamaica – Uncle Polly made amends after finishing fourth on debut two weeks ago to take second race run just moments ago as the 10-race card for Saturday, November 23 continued at Caymanas Park.
Racing over six furlongs in a maiden two-year-old event, Uncle Polly an American bred ridden by Phillip Parchment and trained by Wayne DaCosta came with a strong run inside the last furlong to beat another American bred Eroy (Robert Halledeen) with third going to Fearless Champion (Omar Walker).
Interestingly, Uncle Polly when he ran his first race was hindered by Eroy, who won that event but was subsequently disqualified. Today, there was a stewards’ inquiry and a jockey’s objection lodged against Uncle Polly by Halledeen but both were rejected by the stewards.
Uncle Polly under strong handling by Parchment got the job done after coming from behind as the fast filly She’s A Hit set the early fractions. She’s A Hit folded quite quickly and it was then that the two foreigners took over.
The winning time was 1:13.4 for six furlongs.
Uncle Polly was the second winner on the day for DaCosta.
