KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh race on Sunday, July 7, 2024, is for three-year-old non-winners of two for locally bred horses, and also a maiden for three-year-old foreigners.
Twelve horses are entered to travel seven furlongs.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment is published below.
- MIDNIGHT GALAXY: A grey colt (born on March 31) by Midnight Hawk out of Galaxy Miss, trained by Gresford Smith with Paul Francis riding. Midnight Galaxy, racing with cheekpieces on for the first time, is entering the non-two for the first time after an underwhelming performance in the Prince Consort. Midnight Galaxy could be considered a live outsider.
- ROSETTA: A roan filly (born on April 6) by Bold Conquest out of Khadilah, trained by Jason DaCosta with Shavon Townsend aboard. Entered non-two for the first time on June 22, finishing fourth, seven lengths behind Riches To Rags. Will have to wait.
- BATTLE ANGEL: A chestnut filly (born on May 18) by Bern Identity out of Angel Dreams, trained by Anthony Nunes with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. Did well in her non-two debut with a third-place effort, beaten by Magnificent Force by 6 ¾ lengths. Will have to produce her best and more to win this one.
- AFFAIR: A bay colt (born on May 10) by Casual Trick out of Nuclear Affair, trained by Gary Subratie with no jockey listed as yet. Got off the mark 15 days ago, therefore needs time for acclimatization.
- DON’T TELL LOU LOU: A bay filly (born on May 8) by Savoy Stomp out of Lastochka, trained by Howard Bailey with Ramon Nepare holding the reins. Don’t Tell Lou Lou races with the visor off and is not expected to trouble these even with the visor off.
- J SPIETH: A grey colt (born on March 28) by Spieth out of Alice And Trixie, trained by Patrick Lynch with Shane Ellis riding. The connections of J Spieth have decided not to go in the St Leger, choosing instead to race at this level. J Spieth is better suited to this group as well as the distance. He has to be given every chance of winning.
- SPINAL TAPIT: A bay filly (born in the USA on April 12) by Tiznow out of Illapa, trained by Ryan Darby with no rider appointed as yet. Spinal Tap races with the visor and tongue tie and is still getting acquainted with local conditions after being well-beaten on debut. Needs more time.
- KAYLYN MELODY: A bay filly (born on May 19) by Casual Trick out of Darlin, trained by Robert Pearson, with Roger Hewitt in the saddle. Kaylyn Melody races with first-time Lasix and is not ready to handle these as yet.
- JUSTIN BIGTIME: A bay colt (born on March 1) by Sensational Slam out of Kiri, trained by Gary Subratie with Aaron Chatrie listed as the designated jockey. Justin Bigtime races with the tongue tie on and took only two starts to enter the winners’ enclosure. Justin Bigtime enters non-two for the first occasion, yet he seems progressive enough to have a significant impact.
- SHOOTING STAR: A bay colt (born on April 12) by Tapiture out of Diffuse Nebula, trained by Fitznahum Williams with Tevin Foster riding. Shooting Star races with the figure eight on and finished third when making his entrance in non-two. Has to be given every chance of winning.
- BLU SENSATION: A bay filly (born on February 12) by Sensational Slam out of Blues In The Grass, trained by Peter-John Parsard with Oneil Mullings. After in and out efforts in the major three-year-old races, Blu Sensation returns to more fertile land. Capable of handling these, especially after her maiden victory at 7 ½ furlongs. Has to be respected.
- FIRST OFFENSE: A bay colt (born on February 21) by Conquest Cherimash out of Official Report, trained by Steven Todd with Shamaree Muir aboard. Cannot be afforded even a reasonable chance of winning.
