KINGSTON, Jamaica - Shane Ellis is set to make a return to Jamaica from the Woodbine racetrack in Canada to ride Crown Chaser in the upcoming St Leger.
The St Leger, a 10-furlong, three-year-old Classic race, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Caymanas Park.
Trainer Anthony Nunes confirmed Ellis's booking.
“Yes, Shane Ellis has been officially booked to ride Crown Chaser in the upcoming St Leger.
“He will be arriving on the island this evening (Monday, July 1), which will give him enough time, weather permitting to get acquainted with Crown Chaser,” Nunes told Quickgallopja.com.
Ellis, who has previously partnered with Nunes for several Classic winners, secured another victory at Woodbine when he guided Ambitious Lass to a win over six furlongs on Saturday, June 29.
On his return Ellis is expected to ride on St Leger race day on Saturday, July 6, as well as competing on Sunday, July 7.
