KINGSTON, Jamaica - The eighth race on Saturday, June 22, 2024, is the SVL 23rd Anniversary Trophy, a three-year-old and up-stakes call in which six horses are entered.

This trophy event is to be competed over 5 ½ furlongs, with The Quick Galloper’s take on the possible outcome given below in draw order.

1 - MAHOGANY has raced twice in 2024, finishing four lengths third behind Desert of Malibu and A Gift From Ben (six furlongs), and second; three - parts of a length adrift of Further And Beyond. Those two efforts have assisted Mahogany in returning to his best form. Mahogany again heads the handicaps, allowing weight to all five opponents. He is the undoubted speed in this race, and if he can relax on the headlines at a distance to his liking, Mahogany is going to prove difficult to beat. The change of rider from Reyan Lewis to Raddesh Roman is of significance as Roman has the talent of getting his horses to the front, and he knows how to rate his mounts.

2 - I AM FRED made a welcome return on May 25 after a long break of over five months. I Am Fred reported in good nick, beaten a short head by Ability going six furlongs. Then, I Am Fred carried a top weight of 126 lbs, and on Saturday he will carry seven pounds less at a distance he might find a tad short to be at his best. Cannot be ruled out.

3 - A GIFT FROM can best be back for a place on the board.

4 - JOY IS GOLDEN makes her entrance in this grade, having achieved four consecutive victories. Now the waiting period begins for this foreigner.

5 - SENSATIONAL MOVE is making a comeback following a break of 126 days. He will need more time to get back to his running best.

6 - IS THAT A FACT has been active in 2024, having already raced six times, recording three wins. May be the one to test Mahogany up front. Is That A Fact is in the pink of his chance but 5 ½ furlongs is a bit short for him to deliver at optimum.
