Trainer Howard Bailey is ecstatic after securing his first win as a conditioner with Boss Izzy on Sunday, May 5, 2024. This victory marks the beginning of what Bailey hopes will be a long line of successes in the future.

Boss Izzy, under the guidance of jockey Omar Walker, made a comeback to claim victory in the five-year-old and upward Claiming ($180,000-$150,000) event. The race also featured native-bred six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of two) over 5 ½ furlongs.

Silverstine finished in second place, with Nez Perce (ridden by Shane Richardson) coming in third. The final time for the race was 1:13.0 (24.1 x 49.1).

Reflecting on his victory, Bailey expressed his gratitude and excitement. "Winning my first race as a licensed trainer is an incredible feeling that I will always cherish," Bailey said.

He added: “Boss Izzy performed exceptionally well, and I am thankful for this win. This is just the beginning, and I am confident that there will be many more victories to come."

Bailey's optimism and determination are evident as he looks forward to a promising future in the world of horse racing.
