KINGSTON, Jamaica - The first race on Sunday, April 14, is the first division of a maiden event exclusive to three-year-old fillies, spanning 5 ½ furlongs.
Ten maiden fillies are set to compete.
The Quick Galloper offers analysis in the order they will line up.
1 - MALAYAN QUEEN, a bay filly born March 15 sired by Midnight Hawk, dam Michelle The Boss, is in training with Colin Ferguson and will be ridden by Oneil Scott. Workout reports suggest Malayan Queen has shown promise, with expectations of future wins.
2 - IMMEASURABLE JOY, born April 23, a bay filly conceived by War Correspondent, dam Moon Over Mallorca, is under the guidance of Anthony Nunes with Raddesh Roman as the jockey. Noteworthy is that Immeasurable Joy's will race with the figure-eight. The filly, after an unremarkable debut on December 10, 2023, has shown improved morning workouts that suggest a win is possible.
3 - RUBY’S LIGHT, born May 19, a bay filly by Casual Trick, dam Outrageous, is trained by Gary Griffiths with jockey Youville Pinnock. Ruby’s Light will race with blinkers. Her four races to date have been unimpressive.
4 - APLOMB, a chestnut filly born March 23 by Western Warrior, dam Truly Trudy, is prepared by Tensang Chang with Matthew Bennett in the saddle. Despite encountering interference in her last race, Aplomb is a contender for the exotics.
5 - DANCING AVIATOR, born March 12, a chestnut filly by Bold Conquest, dam Classy Aviator, is trained by Jason DaCosta with jockey Tevin Foster. She initially won her first race but was disqualified; she remains a strong challenger.
6 - AWESOME LINE, born May 13, a bay filly by Midnight Hawk, dam South, is trained by Lorenzo Robinson and will be ridden by Josue Osorio. She finished fourth in her debut on March 23, earning a place on the board and should not be dismissed.
7 - LADY GOBINDIA, born April 3, a bay filly by Here Comes Ben, dam Lady Madras, is trained by Lorenzo Robinson with Roderick DaCosta as the jockey. Lady Gobindia is not a likely contender.
8 - DI MIRACLE ANGEL, born January 4, a chestnut filly by Berlino Di Tiger, dam My Angel, is trained by Robert Pearson with Kawise Gentle as the jockey. Di Miracle Angel enters the race with curiosity as it marks her first run.
9 - SHE’S DALLAS LOVE, born May 19, a chestnut filly by Hedge Fund, dam Kandi With K, is trained by Gresford Smith with Shane Richardson riding. She impressed in her debut on March 23, finishing second with potential to benefit from the extra distance.
10 - SIPPIN ON SUNSHINE, born April 23, a bay filly by Sunshine N Shadow, dam Casual Drink, is trained by Nicholas Wehby with Omar Walker as the jockey. Sippin On Sunshine races with blinkers and showed potential in her third-place debut but faltered in her next outing. A jockey switch may prove advantageous.
