KINGSTON, Jamaica - Title-chasing trainer Anthony “Baba” Nunes is informing that all is well with his charges Toona Ciliata and Supreme Soul heading into next week’s Diamond Mile race at Caymanas Park. The Diamond Mile carries a purse of US$115,000 (over $14 million) and is set to be contested on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

Both horses have been doing well this season with Toona Ciliata winning four races and finishing second on four occasions from 10 starts including a second-place finish in the recent Supertsakes behind She’s A Maneater.

Supreme Soul has raced 10 times, trotting up eight-consecutive victories including the Triple Crown consisting the 1000/2000 Guineas, the Jamaica Derby and the Jamaica St Leger. However, his last two runs have been most disappointing.

“Both Toona Ciliata and Supreme Soul are at present in fine shape for the upcoming Diamond Mile event but with just over a week still to go, preparations are continuing,” Nunes said.

“Toona Ciliata has worked very well since the Superstakes and we are extremely happy with him and there is another week to go so we hope that he stays healthy and sound.

“Supreme Soul came out of his last race in good shape as well but he looks a little heavy around the middle so we are going to give him some more work. He does not always give of his best in the mornings but we are going to have to work with him as he does look heavy around the belly.

“But with a week or so to go it is still early days to talk about that race but it so far so good as we are working to meet the day,” Nunes promised.
