Trainer Alford Brown attributes Yellowstone's dominant victory in the Supreme Ventures and Racing Entertainment Limited's (SVREL) 7th Anniversary Trophy to strategic equipment adjustments and a lighter weight. On March 2, 2024, the five-year-old gelding showcased an outstanding performance, winning the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance event for ages three and up by a decisive 6¼ lengths.
Sporting a visor and carrying only 48.0 kgs (106 lb), Yellowstone took the lead immediately and maintained a strong pace throughout the five-and-a-half-furlong race. Brown had anticipated a strong showing due to the gelding's minimum weight, expressing confidence in Yellowstone's abilities and speed.
Having trained Yellowstone without the visor previously, Brown noticed potential improvements and opted for the equipment change, which proved beneficial as Yellowstone demonstrated his capability as a visor-suited horse.
Looking ahead, Brown hopes for Yellowstone's continued health and aims to compete in future sprint races. Jockey Jordan Barrett executed a tactical race, propelling Yellowstone ahead of the four-horse field after the start. By the half-mile mark, Yellowstone had established a substantial lead over Madelyn’s Sunshine (Tevin Foster) and Emperorofthecats (Richard Henry).
Yellowstone crossed the finish line with ease, thwarting Madelyn’s Sunshine's effort and leaving Press Conference (Javaniel Patterson) to clinch third place over stablemate Emperorofthecats. The final race time was recorded at 1:07.4, following splits of 23.0 x 46.4. Notably, Sensational Move, who had previously defeated Yellowstone, was withdrawn from the competition.
