KINGSTON, Jamaica - The second event on the 10-race of Saturday, March 2, 2024, is a three-year-old maiden call in which six horses are entered.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment is given below below is post-position order.
1 - KAYLYN MELODY is a bay filly (May 19) by Casual Trick out of Darlin, trained by Robert Pearson with Javaniel Patterson riding. This filly has raced three times, hitting the board on those three efforts. Coming along, and can play a significant role in this one without winning.
2 - J SPIETH is a grey colt (March 26) by Spieth out of Alice And Trixie, trained by Patrick Lynch with Tevin Foster aboard. J Spieth enters the racing fray having fluent morning spins, which have caught the attention of onlookers. The presence of the leading rider in the saddle adds to the winning chances of this newcomer. Watch J Spieth.
3 - BOLD SHADOW is a bay colt (March 25) by Sunshine N Shadow out of Charming Beauty, trained by Patrick Lynch with Chris Douglas holding the reins. Bold Shadow has raced four times, yet even with that experience, he cannot be seriously considered.
4 - THE GENERAL is a bay colt (May 12) by Northern Giant out of Mama Blossom, trained by Gary Subratie with Robert Halledeen in the saddle. Rallied in his first outing, coming from way behind the leaders to earn second place at five furlongs straight albeit by eight lengths. Having that effort in his hoofs, The General, who has continued to look good in the mornings is going to benefit by the extra furlongs. He is poised for a winning run.
5 - KING PIYE is a chestnut colt (April 2) by Admiral Alex out of Jamaican Pharaoh, trained by Anthony Nunes with Raddesh Roman holding the reins. Returns seven days after making his debut at 6 ½ furlongs. Then King Piye lost by a head to winner Don’t Tell Lou Lou in a slow time of 1:25.2. Having tested the ground, King Piye is expected to improve.
6 - OIL MACHINE is a chestnut colt (January 28) by Bern Identity out of Keep The Faith, trained by Phillip Elliott with Phillip Parchment aboard. He will learn from this experience. Note, Oil Machine races with the blinkers and tongue tie on.
