KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh race on Sunday, February 25, 2024, is Division Two of a three-year-old maiden call for fillies only at 5 ½ furlongs.

Like Division One, Division Two is packed with horses racing for the first time, as four of the eight starters are newcomers to competitive racing.

The Quick Galloper disentangles this contest for readers.

1 - FIRECRACKER is a bay filly (March 12) by Hedge Fund out of Lightning Lily, trained by Philip Feanny with Jawani Forbes riding. Has caught the eyes of onlookers in the mornings with many saying this filly is of worth based on her exercise spins. Firecracker is expected to put in a good effort.

2 - BROWNIE BROWN is a chestnut filly (April 29) by Shackleville out of Alienate, trained by Winchester McIntosh with Robert Halledeen holding the reins.  Finished second on debut (December 10) but has not shown much since in her two other efforts. Brownie Brown can use experience to her advantage.

3 - HIMAYA is a roan filly (March 23) by Casual Trick out of Raksha, trained by Jason DaCosta with Abigail Able aboard. By far the most raced of this lot, facing the starter on 15 occasions. While, Himaya has placed on the board on several of her starts, she has not been able to demonstrate much merit, but with this event a wide open one, she can find a path to score a win.

4 - QUEEN VAUNA is a bay filly (April 8) by Savoy Stomp out of Trinket Box, trained by Edward Stanberry with Omar Walker in the saddle. Queen Vauna comes from good lineage, as her dam has already produced Calculus and Sonny T And Chippy. Doing well at exercise but might prefer going longer. Watch Queen Vauna carefully.

5 - HAVAJOY (April 21) by Legal Process out of Lady Tarkari, trained by Donovan Thompson with Rudolph Paige aboard. Coming along, needs time.

6 - LADY GOBINDIA is a bay filly (April 3) by Here Comes Ben out of Lady Madras, trained by Fitzgerald Richards with Linton Steadman holding the reins. A good looker, Lady Gobindia is moving well in the mornings. Word out is that the connections are assuming a capital effort.

7 - SHANY STAR is a bay filly (April 15) by Savoy Stomp out of Gentle Officer, trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Dane Dawkins in the irons. Was to make her debut on December 9, 2023, but was not able to do so, with the official reason given as injured before race time. Since then Shany Star has been seen in the morning putting in some decent spins. Clockers reveal that Shany Star looks like a sprinter. Shany Star has to be carefully noted.

8 - RACHEL MANNIN is a chestnut filly (March 24) by Admiral Alex out of Ricgualia, trained by Enos Brown with Odeen Edwards in the saddle. Has one start under her belt on January 20, when she finished fourth. Should be actively considered for the exotics.
