Sabina's team is elated as the six-year-old chestnut mare clinched back-to-back victories this season, triumphing once again on the tracks this past Saturday, February 17, 2024.

The scene of Sabina's latest conquest was a clash in the three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming bracket, with the claiming price ranging from $250,000 to $200,000. The race welcomed a diverse group of competitors, including native-bred six-year-olds and above who hadn't claimed three wins, as well as imported six-year-olds and above who hadn't secured two.

Over the short sprint of four furlongs (800m), Trevor Simpson partnered with Sabina, who vied for the lead alongside contenders Chiney Music (ridden by Christopher Mamdeen), Sensational Satin (with Garfield Gordon in the saddle), and Tequila Blue (Romario Spencer guiding the reins).

The pack was tightly bunched as they blazed past the halfway mark at two furlongs (400m), with Chiney Music pushing ahead to take solo command. However, Sabina, along with Sensational Satin and Tequila Blue, was hot on her heels, setting up a thrilling chase.

As they thundered into the final stretch, with just 100 metres to go, Chiney Music's pace wavered, and Sabina surged forward to secure the win by a clear length. Tequila Blue managed to capture second place, leaving Chiney Music to settle for third with a final time of 50.1 seconds, breaking down to 23.3 for the initial split.
