KINGSTON, Jamaican – A scorching run in the last furlong brought victory to Band of Gold in the seventh event on the 10-race card at Caymanas Park.
Band of Gold who showed early promise as a three-year-old but never lived up to those expectations got moving on the inside rails under the guidance of jockey Javaniel Patterson with just a furlong and a half left in the 6 ½ furlongs Restricted Allowance 1V event.
It was touch and go for Band of Gold as a seemingly rejuvenated Prince Holder on A Seh Soup, was fighting to the death in order to win this one but Patterson held on strong to claim the victory at odds of 13-1.
A Seh Soup was second with Msmyrtlerichiegirl third.
Band of Gold trained by Johnny Wilmot gave his owner Carlton Watson his second winner on the card.
