KINGSTON, Jamaica -  Entering the 2024 racing season, Norblar demands attention after his victory at 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) on December 30, 2023.

The then three-year-old bay colt, Norblar, seized the contest for imported three-year-olds and native-bred three and four-year-olds, winning by a remarkable 5 1/2 lengths in a time of 1:32.3.

Guided by Christopher Mamdeen, Norblar held a steady second place behind Super Alex, ridden by Shavon Townsend, before asserting his dominance and taking the lead at the half-mile (800m) turn.

As the race veered towards the home bend, Norblar extended his lead, effortlessly overcoming Money Miser, ridden by Shamaree Muir, and Huntsman, ridden by Tevin Foster.

Trainer Gresford Smith expressed optimism about Norblar's win.

“Mamdeen has been working with this horse for a couple of weeks now and so I told him that because he knows the horse well, just go and do his thing,” Smith said.

Smith further remarked, “We have to take it one day at a time and look how he comes out of the race and we will take it from there.”

Mamdeen voiced his confidence about the victory.
