KINGSTON, Jamaica – The final race for the juveniles is a maiden event at six furlongs, featuring six two-year-olds with an equal mix of three locally bred and three foreign competitors. The Quick Galloper assesses the chances of these six contenders in draw order.
– PRINCESS AMAHLE, a bay filly (USA Jan 28) by Klimt and Nuestra Union, is trained by Dalton Sirjue and ridden by Dane Dawkins. Notably, she races wearing blinkers. She made a promising start to her career, finishing second, 3 ½ lengths behind Grecian Light on December 2 at 5 ½ furlongs. Progressing well in morning training sessions, Princess Amahle is poised for success after her first outing.
– KAYLYN MELODY, a bay filly (May 19) by Casual Trick out of Darlin, is trained by Steven Todd and ridden by Javaniel Patterson. Notably, she races without a tongue tie. Darlin has produced Kwaku and Phenomenal One previously. Kaylyn Melody finished far behind in her debut and is expected to continue this trend.
– TRAIN OF THOUGHT, a dark bay filly (USA May 4) by Mor Spirit out of Equitable, is trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Raddesh Roman. Notably, she races without a visor. She finished around five lengths behind second-placed Princess Amahle in her first race. Train of Thought has been working well and deserves respect, especially with Roman riding for Nunes.
– CLEOPATRA QUEEN, a bay filly (USA March 16) by St Patrick’s Day out of Caribbean Queen, is trained by Alford Brown. Morning reports are positive about this US-bred filly's potential, with many suggesting she may have an outstanding debut.
– ALLEGIANCE, a chestnut colt (February 26) by Midnight Hawk out of Princess Geeta, is trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Tevin Foster. Notably, he races wearing a visor. Princess Geeta has produced Fayrouz, Will At War, Nefertari and Mamma Mia. Allegiance displayed good early speed in his debut race on November 19 over seven furlongs before losing momentum. His chances should not be dismissed as he races over a shorter distance this time.
– SHERIFF IN TOWN, a chestnut colt (March 11) by Sensational Slam out of Antoinette, is trained by Patrick Taylor and ridden by Jerome Innis. Antoinette has produced Deep Blue Sea, XY Soul, and Awesome Anthony. Despite being well-backed just seven days ago, Sheriff In Town took no part in the race. However, based on exercise reports, his speed might have an impact on the final outcome.
