KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Byron Davis was overjoyed after the second race on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Caymanas Park.
The second race featured a two-year-old fillies-only event over five furlongs. Initially, seven horses were entered, but the lineup was reduced to five starters after late withdrawals of Don't Tell Lou Lou and Shany Star.
As soon as the gates opened, Davis' horse Cryptogirl, ridden by Omar Walker, took the lead and ultimately won by an impressive 18¾ lengths.
Cryptogirl's debut was noteworthy as the offspring of Soul Warrior and Twilight Eruption clocked a final time of 1:00.4 with splits of 24.1 x 47.1.
While a single performance cannot determine a thoroughbred's true potential, there is little doubt that this effort by Davis' trainee makes Cryptogirl one to watch in future races.
