KINGSTON, Jamaica – The local racing calendar has expanded with the exciting addition of two new events: the Mr Sensational Trophy and the Bruceontheloose Sprint.
The Mr Sensational Trophy will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2023, while the Bruceontheloose Sprint is scheduled for the Mouttet Mile race day on December 2.
The Mr Sensational Trophy is a Restricted Stakes race for both locally bred and foreign bred two-year-olds, covering a distance of seven furlongs.
With a total purse of $2 million, this event honours Mr Sensational, who was the champion two-year-old of 1994 and the first juvenile to accumulate over a million dollars in a single season.
As a two-year-old in 1994, Mr Sensational’s major success was attained in the one mile Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes. As a three-year-old Mr Sensational won the Classic 2000 Guineas plus a number of Grade One races.
In contrast, the Bruceontheloose Sprint is a Grade Two event, challenging participants to cover six and a half furlongs. The race boasts a total purse of $2.5 million and celebrates Bruceontheloose's successful campaigns in both Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.
