KINGSTON, Jamaica - Despite not competing for the trainers' title this season, three-time champion Anthony "Baba" Nunes proved his stable still produces winners with an impressive double on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

Nunes, currently in second place in the trainers' standings and trailing Jason DaCosta by $41 million, claimed victories in the sixth race with Wow How and the eighth race with Savvy Girl. Jockey Tevin Foster rode both winning horses.

Wow How and Savvy Girl triumphed in separate divisions of a native-bred three-year-olds (non-winners of two) and imported three-year-olds and upwards (maidens) fillies and mares contest over 6 ½ furlongs.

In Division One, Wow How (Perfect Curlin – Sarah Barracuda) maintained a close pace early before overtaking a rival in the home stretch for an effortless 3 ¼-length win, clocking a time of 1:20.2 (23.2 x 47.2 x 1:13.1). All For Love (Dane Dawkins) secured second place.

Division Two saw Savvy Girl work hard for her victory. The three-year-old bay filly initially struggled to keep up with early leaders and remained among the backmarkers at the start.

However, in the final stretch, Savvy Girl made significant progress and managed to edge past May Sellington (Matthew Bennett) and She's Myhedgefund (Robert Halledeen) at the finish line. Savvy Girl won by a whisker in a time of 1:22.2 (23.3 x 47.4 x 1:15.0).

This triumph marked Nunes's 44th win of the season.
