KINGSTON, Jamaica – On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the eighth race is an Open Allowance event featuring six horses covering five furlongs.

Below is The Quick Galloper's assessment of the contenders, listed in draw order.

1 – Freedom Street claimed victory in Overnight Allowance just 20 days ago and now advances to a higher grade. This in utero-bred gelding begins a new learning process.

2 – Despite losing in the final yards of the Gold Cup (seven furlongs) to She's My Destiny, Mahogany still proved himself as one of the top three horses in training. With his October 16 Gold Cup performance after a long break and a more suitable distance, Mahogany will be tough to beat.

3 – Slowly finding his stride after returning from an extended hiatus on August 12 and racing thrice this season, Jordon Reign’s still falls short of his previous form. He may regain form eventually but not on Saturday.

4 – Regal and Royal can't compete with the others at this point.

5 – Generational is guaranteed to earn from this six-horse field.

6 – Is That A Fact, the rising star with four consecutive victories at three years old, is known for his blistering pace. Facing established speedster Mahogany on Saturday presents Is That A Fact's biggest challenge so far.

The Quick Galloper's top choice is Mahogany due to his undeniable class and speed. However, Is That A Fact will surely test the veteran every step of the way.
