KINGSTON, Jamaica - Jockey Ricardo Duhaney made a rare visit to the winners' enclosure after he guided home the Peter-John Parsard-conditioned Neo Star in a Maiden Condition race for native-bred four-year-olds at 6 ½ furlongs on Saturday, September 9, 2023.
Duhaney, who was aboard his fifth mount for the season, broke Neo Star in good order and battled She's Nae Nae (Phillip Parchment) for the advantage.
Then Duhaney took hold of his mount and allowed the rail-running Solid Truth (Matthew Bennett) to dictate proceedings on the front end leaving the 5-furlong marker.
Neo Star wasted no time to regain the lead going into the half-mile (800m) turn and began to open up on rivals approaching the distance. Neo Star, with no real challengers entering the drive, went on to win easily by 9 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:23.4 (24.1 x 48.3 x 1:16.0).
Millinium Star (Paul Francis) came through for second place with Who Doneit (Reyan Lewis) getting third place.
