KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Good Witch, running with a tongue tie on and the figure 8 off, managed to secure a win at the wire in an Optional Claiming event for three-year-olds and upwards ($400,000-$300,000). The six-furlong race also featured six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of four).

With Dane Dawkins as the jockey for trainer Gary Subratie, The Good Witch began in mid-pack, observing Wilson (Shane Richardson) lead the pack into the half-mile (800m) turn, followed by Manaco (Reyan Lewis) and Smoke Haze (Oshane Nugent).

At this point, The Good Witch still trailed behind the front runners. Manaco assumed the lead nearing the distance mark and maintained it into the lane, showcasing a significant advantage.

However, The Good Witch gained momentum on the wide outside during the straight stretch, ultimately securing a win by a length-and-a-half.

Manaco finished second and Bold Sami (Shavon Townsend) claimed third place. The final time was recorded at 1:17.3 (23.3 x 48.2).
