KINGSTON, Jamaica – Eight three-year-old horses participated in the 2022 Winston Griffiths Classic.
The Quick Galloper takes a retrospective look to evaluate the progress or stagnation of these eight equine competitors.
FIRST – BRINKS: Since his 3½-length victory in the 2022 Winston Griffiths, Brinks has not advanced as expected based on his performances as a three-year-old. He is now competing at the Overnight Allowance level. In his most recent race on Sunday, August 27th, he finished third behind Stomp The Rhythm and Luksol, even though he had a promising position entering the straight.
SECOND – MORIMOTO: Securing second place in the 2022 Winston Griffiths, Morimoto delivered his best performance as a three-year-old. Though his career has been hindered by injuries, Morimoto consistently engages in regular morning exercise. According to recent reports, he will return to racing shortly.
THIRD – PERFECT BREW: Perfect Brew experienced an inconsistent three-year-old career. However, at four, he made significant progress by reaching and winning in Overnight Allowance. Since then, he has moved on to triumph in Open Allowance and is poised to become a key player in the top grade.
FOURTH – D HEAD CORNERSTONE: Has done really well to reach Open Allowance where he is currently earning his spurs.
FIFTH – GREAT TRICK: Nothing to report here.
SIXTH – PELICULA: Has been retired after a rather moderate racing career.
SEVENTH – SUNSET SILHOUTTE: This filly continues to plod along. After several attempts, Sunset Silhoutte is now campaigning in Overnight Allowance, which appears to be her limit.
EIGHTH – UNRULY DUDE: Has not been around in recent times.
