KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2023 Reggae Trophy, a Grade One call at five furlongs straight has attracted five starters on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is provided below.

1 – JORDON REIGN’S was last seen in a competitive event on December 31, 2022, 224 days ago. This foreigner is one who possesses a lot of class, but his career has been hampered by injury issues. Jordon Reign’s has been on the track for a while, galloping last on August 6, 2023, three furlongs straight in a time of 37.3 seconds.  If he returns to the Jordon Reign’s of old, this will not be a race. Given that proviso, it is still unknown which Jordon Reign’s will turn up on Saturday. The Quick Galloper prefers to wait and see.

2 – BRINKS is trolling way above his grade, having not registered a win in Overnight Allowance. Brinks is making up numbers for his more creditable stablemate, Jordon Reign’s.   Note, Brinks races with the tongue tie off.

3 – LURE OF LUCY is now a regular starter on race days. This foreigner is now operating in Open Allowance and is one who loves the straight. Lure of Lucy cannot be eliminated from consideration.

4 – PERFECT BREW has not raced on the straight course for a long while. His last win came 11 days ago, in spectacular fashion coming from well off the leading pack travelling 5 ½ furlongs in Overnight Allowance. Now, he gets the opportunity of familiarizing himself with his new grouping.

5 – SHE’S MY DESTINY has firmly established herself in the top class. She’s My Destiny, a winner of ten races from 21 starts, has not visited the five straight course for a long while. She is familiar with this level, has speed, and has to be caught, especially drawn on the outside.
