KINGSTON, Jamaica – It took the years of experience and skill of jockey Allen Maragh to get the best out of the unpredictable Richard Azan-trained Burlap in the Caymanas Saturday, July 22, 2023, fourth.
Burlap could not go with the pacesetters in this maiden three-year-old five-furlong round sprint, instead, he relaxed a green running Burlap round the turn and then brought him with a run of confidence on the outside. Burlap responded to get up and beat Joy Is Golden (Jordan Barrett).
It was the second winner on the day for trainer Azan.
