Trainer Fitzroy Glispie Chooses The Oaks For Princess Sharon

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Fitzroy Glispie trained Princess Sharon after her defining performance in the 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger, when she finished third behind Thalita, and her stablemate Money Mister has been provisionally entered to race next in the 2023 Jamaica Oaks.

Trainer Glispie had the choice of placing his filly in either the 10-furlong Oaks or the 12-furlong Jamaica Derby, which are scheduled two days apart.

The fillies only Jamaica Oaks is set to be contested on Saturday, August 5, 2023, while the Derby is on Monday, August 7.

Glispie can still enter Princess Sharon in Derby with the payment of a penalty fee of $30,000 plus the original nomination fee of $30,000 for a total of $60,000.

Based on the provisional list issued by the Racing Office, 17 fillies are entered in the 2023 Jamaica Oaks.

St Leger and 1000 Guineas winning trainer Jason DaCosta has nominated seven of the 17 horses in the Oaks including St Leger star Thalita, and Mamma Mia of 1000 Guineas fame.

The other DaCosta entered runners are MPRS Links, She’s MyHedgefund, She’s A Mirage, Brown Skin Girl, and Wayne Princess.
