KINGSTON, Jamaica - Sensational Ending, trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by Reyan Lewis, got up in the nick of time (Sunday, June 25, 2023) to beat rivals in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($400,000-$300,000) spread that also included six-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of four) going 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m).
Sensational Ending raced in mid-pack down the backstretch as Kingswood (Raddesh Roman) showed the way from early ahead of Action Run (Tevin Foster) and Kiah (Anthony Allen). Going into the half-mile turn, Sensational Ending was still labouring behind the leaders as Action Run and Kiah vied for the ascendency way ahead of Devonte` (Matthew Bennett).
Turning for home and going four wide in deep stretch, Lewis produced his mount for an effort, and Sensational Ending responded well to get up and beat Kiah by a length at the finish. Colawill (Ramon Nepare) came from behind the runners to get third place. The final time was 1:25.2 (24.0 x 48.3 x 1:16.3).
