KINGSTON, Jamaica – The sixth race on Saturday, June 10, 2023, is a three-year-old maiden call at six furlongs.

Twelve horses have been entered including number three, the first-timer War Horse, trained by Margaret Parchment.

This marks the return to the training ranks for Parchment, who has been away from the saddling barn, for a long while.

Welcome back, Miss P.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is given below.

1 – ALWAYS WRIGHT is a bay filly (April 4 ) by Northern Giant out of Kitty Hawk, trained by Michael Marlowe with Linton Steadman aboard. The journey begins for this newcomer. Let’s watch and see.

2 – PHENOMENAL ONE is a chestnut colt (March 31) by Lion Tamer out of Darlin, trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Allen aboard. Getting closer and closer. Seems to be quite a lot to handle, which is proving to be a deterrent to him winning his first race. The trip of six furlongs is to Phenomenal One’s liking, with The Quick Galloper giving him another chance to make good.

3 – WAR HORSE is a bay colt (February 19) by Smokin Man out of Storm Watch, trained by Margaret Parchment with Calvin Bailey aboard. The racing learning curve has started for War Horse. Only time will tell.

4 – RICHIE RICH is a chestnut colt (January 31) by Soul Warrior out of Red Gold, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis in the saddle. Has finished fourth in his two starts to date. Richie Rich is slowly finding his way, among his age group with this expectation being having benefitted from his introduction, he can play a part in the outcome of this one.

5 – CAPTAIN PHILIP is a chestnut colt (April 8) by Hedge Fund out of Kandi With A K, trained by Gary Griffiths with Roger Hewitt aboard. Note, Captain Philip races with the blinkers on. Has not been able to gain any notice from his three starts. The process of acclimatisation continues for Captain Philip.

6 – MAY SELLINGTON is a bay filly (March 26) by Natural Selection out of Lucious, trained by Ryan Darby with Oneil Mullings in the saddle. Note, May Sellington races with the tongue tie off, and the figure 8 on. Can be described as a model of consistency. May Sellington enters this maiden call with everything in her favour, she is expected to give another telling performance with winning a strong possibility.

7 – BAD INVESTMENT is a bay colt (January 30) by Casual Trick out of My Angel Briannah, trained by Oral Hayden with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Has yet to give any evidence that winning is a possibility here.

8 – HERE COMES BEN is a bay colt (February 16) by Here Comes Ben out of Sparkling Michaela, trained by Winston Morris with Bebeto Harvey aboard. Note, Here Comes Ben races with the blinkers off. Will get there given time.

9 – LADY ABHIMALA is a chestnut filly (March 8) by Legal Process out of Lady Abhijita, trained by Rowan Mathie with Paul Francis in the saddle. Note, Lady Abhimla races with the visor off and the blinkers off. Has shown a bit previously, but not enough to rattle rivals.

10 – NORBLAR is a bay colt (February 20) by Wannabeaplayer out of Special Degree, trained by Gresford Smith with Dane Dawkins aboard. Made a noticeable first entry 18 days ago at five furlongs. Now, having gathered race day sand in his hoofs, Norblar with natural advancement is expected to put in another good shift.

11 – I AM INTERESTED is a bay colt (February 15) by Wannabeaplayer out of Back At You, trained by Joseph Thomas with Raddesh Roman aboard. Still getting to know what racing is all about.

12 – UNCHARTER is a bay colt (February 15) by Hedge Fund out of Little Gidding, trained by Jason DaCosta with Phillip Parchment in the saddle. Not ready as yet.
