KINGSTON, Jamaica – One of the major talking points going into the next race day (Sat, June 10, 2023) is the return of former top notch racer, Further And Beyond.
Further And Beyond’s re-entry into competitive racing comes after a long period of recuperation from his various maladies, in fact, Further And Beyond has not raced in 343 days.
The re-emergence of Further And Beyond arrives with changes. Further And Beyond now races under the care of newly graduated trainer, Donovan Hutchinson. Further And Beyond was previous trained by Anthony Nunes.
The aforementioned Alsafra Trophy is an Overnight Allowance call at a mile in which, ten horses are entered.
The Quick Gallop’s analysis is given below in draw order.
1 – MARQUESAS has failed to rediscover the form of his earlier years. He earns regularly, which he should do once again.
2 – GAMBLER should not be among these. Better off trying his luck in the claiming ranks.
3 – FURTHER AND BEYOND is the class horse in this field beyond any doubt. Health issues has hampered his already stellar career, resulting in a long layoff. To put it simply, if even 50 per cent of the Further And Beyond of old turns up, then this will not be a race. The Quick Galloper, however, prefers to wait and see. Note, Further And Beyond races with the visor on.
4 – OMRON is racing above her grade.
5 – POSTIVE ID is back in the class where he belongs. Positive ID is known to come on late in his races, making the distance of a mile to his liking. In the Alsafra, Positive ID is allowing weight, which might be his Achilles heel. However, Positive ID will be running one for his place on the board.
6 – STOMP THE RHYTHM runs in Overnight for the second time in his career. The first effort in the grade, 28 days ago, was an outstanding one, finishing second behind the hard nosed, Miniature Man travelling nine furlongs. Stomp The Rhythm has done exceptionally well to reach Overnight, by going through his allotted conditions. Winning in Overnight seems to be a mere formality, and Saturday provides, Stomp The Rhythm with an open door for success.
7 – BERN NOTICE hovers between top claiming and Overnight, having more success in the former. He has an outsiders’ chance in this one.
8 – D HEAD CORNERSTONE soared to victory under professionally guidance from Sadiki Blake at 5 ½ furlongs just 14 days ago. D Head Cornerstone seems to be developing into a come from behind sprinter, although, it has to be remembered that he has done reasonable well going long. D Head Cornerstone will have to wait for his second consecutive victory in Overnight.
9 – PERFECT BREW is earning his stripes in Overnight. Gets a pull in the weights, at a distance he is most effective. With most things in his favour, Perfect Brew will be hard to deny.
10 – CRIMSON has gone completely off the boil in recent times, with his trainer reverting to taking off the visor for this one. Time will tell.
